Natuurlijke oliën als bescherming tegen de zon

Natural oils for sun protection

Many oils are said to naturally contain SPF (Sun Protection Factor). Raspberry leaf oil in particular is known for its natural sun protection factor. But how reliable are these natural SPFs?

A different harvest, a different composition

A disadvantage of natural and unprocessed products is that the properties differ per harvest. No harvest is exactly the same and so is the SPF. The SPF of a natural oil-based sunscreen can therefore differ per tube. This is why we are officially not allowed and unable to say what the exact sun protection factor of a natural oil - such as that in raspberry leaf oil - is.

Research on the protection of raspberry leaf oil

According to research, the UV-absorbing capacity of raspberry leaf oil is comparable to that of titanium dioxide with an SPF of 28 to 50. This is also why we added this oil to our nourishing day and night cream and our boosting serum. As a result, these products have a mild sun protection that suits a day care in this time.

However, if you are going to be outside a lot or if you are going to expose your skin to the sun for a long time (such as in the summer), we ALWAYS recommend using a sunscreen with at least SPF30. This provides the safest protection against the sun.

Mineral sunscreen

We can conclude that optimal sun protection from natural oils has never been fully proven. We therefore recommend that you use a safe sunscreen, such as our 100% mineral sunscreen SPF30, with UVA and UVB protection.
